The 2019 Dakar Rally kicked off in Lima, Peru, with a 331 km special stage from Lima to Pisco. Nani Roma won the opening car stage, while the motorcycle stage was taken by Honda's Ricky Brabec.

Stage 3 from San Juan de Marcona to Arequipa
Stage 3 covered 800 km with a 295 km special stage. Nasser Al-Attiyah extended his overall lead in the car category, while Sam Sunderland took the motorcycle stage win.

Stage 8 cancelled for motorcycles due to fog
The motorcycle portion of Stage 8 was cancelled due to heavy fog and poor visibility conditions, making the route unsafe for riders. The car and truck categories continued with a shortened stage.

Stage 9 from San Juan de Marcona to Pisco
