The 2018 FIA Formula One World Championship was the 72nd season of Formula One motor racing. It began on 25 March in Australia and ended on 25 November in Abu Dhabi. Lewis Hamilton won his fifth World Drivers' Championship, and Mercedes won the World Constructors' Championship.

Season Opener in Australia
Sebastian Vettel won the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Räikkönen after a virtual safety car period allowed Vettel to leapfrog Hamilton in the pits.

Red Bull Teammates Collide in Baku
Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen collided while battling for position at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, resulting in both Red Bull drivers retiring from the race. Lewis Hamilton went on to win the race, taking the lead in the championship.
