The 2014 PGA Championship was the 96th edition of the tournament, held August 7–10 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Rory McIlroy won his second PGA Championship and fourth major title, finishing one stroke ahead of Phil Mickelson.
Lee Westwood and Kevin Chappell each shot opening rounds of 65 (−6) to share the first-round lead. Jim Furyk, Edoardo Molinari, and Henrik Stenson were among those one stroke back at 66.
Rory McIlroy shot a 4-under-par 67 to reach 9-under 131 and take the 36-hole lead. Ryan Palmer was one stroke back at 8-under. First-round co-leader Lee Westwood remained in contention.

A heavy rainstorm delayed the final round for nearly two hours, forcing the last groups to finish in near darkness. Tournament officials allowed the final pairings to play through without re-pairing at the 18th hole to expedite completion.
The victory at Valhalla capped a remarkable summer for McIlroy, who had also won the Open Championship in July and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational the week prior. It was his fourth major title by age 25.
Phil Mickelson shot a final-round 66 (−5) to apply significant pressure, finishing at 15-under par. His charge included a dramatic eagle on the par-5 18th hole, but it was not quite enough to catch McIlroy.
