The 1990 Wimbledon Championships was the 104th edition of the tournament, held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London from June 25 to July 8. Edberg Defeats McEnroe

In the men's singles semifinals, third seed Stefan Edberg defeated John McEnroe in five sets to advance to the Wimbledon final. The 31-year-old McEnroe was making a notable run, reaching his first Wimbledon semifinal since 1985.

Defending champion Boris Becker defeated Ivan Lendl in the men's singles semifinals to advance to his fourth Wimbledon final. Becker had won the title in 1985, 1986, and 1989.

Martina Navratilova defeated Zina Garrison 6-4, 6-1 in the women's singles final to win her ninth Wimbledon singles title, breaking the all-time record she had shared with Helen Wills Moody. This would be Navratilova's final Wimbledon singles title.

Edberg Wins First Wimbledon Title

Stefan Edberg defeated defending champion Boris Becker 6-2, 6-2, 3-6, 3-6, 6-4 in the men's singles final to win his first Wimbledon title. Edberg dominated the first two sets before Becker fought back to level the match, but Edberg prevailed in the fifth set.
