The 1965 Formula One season was the 19th season of FIA Formula One motor racing. It featured the 16th World Championship of Drivers and the 8th International Cup for F1 Manufacturers. The season was contested over ten races between January 1 and October 24, 1965. Jim Clark and Lotus dominated the season, with Clark winning the championship with a then-record 54 points, having won 6 of the 10 races. Lotus won the International Cup for F1 Manufacturers.
The season opened at the Prince George Circuit in East London, South Africa. Jim Clark driving for Lotus started from pole position and won the race, setting the fastest lap in the process.
The Monaco Grand Prix was held at the Circuit de Monaco. Graham Hill driving for BRM took the victory after Jim Clark's Lotus suffered a gearbox failure while leading.
Jim Clark dominated the Belgian Grand Prix at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit, taking pole, fastest lap, and the race victory. Jackie Stewart finished second for BRM.
The French Grand Prix was held at the Circuit de Charade in Clermont-Ferrand. Jim Clark secured another victory for Lotus, finishing ahead of BRM teammates Jackie Stewart and Graham Hill.
Jim Clark won his home race, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, extending his lead in the championship. Graham Hill finished second, while John Surtees took third in a Ferrari.
Just a week after the British Grand Prix, Jim Clark secured another victory at Zandvoort in the Netherlands, further cementing his dominant season.

The German Grand Prix was held at the Nürburgring. Jim Clark won the race, securing the 1965 World Championship of Drivers with three races still remaining in the season.
The season finale was held at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City. Richie Ginther driving for Honda took his and Honda's first ever Formula One victory. Jim Clark had already secured the championship.
