It featured the 15th World Championship of Drivers and the 7th International Cup for F1 Manufacturers, contested over ten races. John Surtees won his first and only Drivers' Championship driving for Ferrari, becoming the only person to win World Championships on both motorcycles and in cars. Ferrari also secured the International Cup for F1 Manufacturers.
